COOPERSTOWN, NY - It became obvious in a hurry that trying to keep current with a blog is practically impossible. Between the hectic schedule of events and the little free time...I've been forced to play catch up from the very start. My guess is that we will recount the things that are top of mind now, and then revise these posts to accurately recap all of the activities.
The Park has a computer area for coaches, but it is tough to find time to recap.
Saturday was the start of this rollercooaster ride. We woke up and showered and got the kids herded over to a big breakfast in the Parent's Pavilion. It was the first time we had daylight to get a full view of this magnificent place.
25 fields, batting cages and practice fields, all surrounded by the great scenery of upstate New York. Baseball heaven for these boys (and the coaches).
After team picture day and some orientation, we geared up and marched as a group with our banner into the stadium for opening ceremonies.
We participated in the skills drills and although we were adequate in 3 of the 4 categories...we did not make it to the finals. However, Will Cosby (our cannon armed left fielder) took FIRST PLACE in the Golden Arm competition. (We will write more on that later and post a photo).
After we had participated...we watched the finalists in the other categories, including the big finish...the King of Swat Home Run Derby. Very exciting stuff.
When the events concluded, we went back to village to turn in and prep for our first two games. Stay tuned to see how we did. Coach Rick
