COOPERSTOWN, NY - It became obvious in a hurry that trying to keep current with a blog is practically impossible. Between the hectic schedule of events and the little free time...I've been forced to play catch up from the very start. My guess is that we will recount the things that are top of mind now, and then revise these posts to accurately recap all of the activities.
The Park has a computer area for coaches, but it is tough to find time to recap.
Saturday was the start of this rollercooaster ride. We woke up and showered and got the kids herded over to a big breakfast in the Parent's Pavilion. It was the first time we had daylight to get a full view of this magnificent place.
25 fields, batting cages and practice fields, all surrounded by the great scenery of upstate New York. Baseball heaven for these boys (and the coaches).
After team picture day and some orientation, we geared up and marched as a group with our banner into the stadium for opening ceremonies.
We participated in the skills drills and although we were adequate in 3 of the 4 categories...we did not make it to the finals. However, Will Cosby (our cannon armed left fielder) took FIRST PLACE in the Golden Arm competition. (We will write more on that later and post a photo).
After we had participated...we watched the finalists in the other categories, including the big finish...the King of Swat Home Run Derby. Very exciting stuff.
When the events concluded, we went back to village to turn in and prep for our first two games. Stay tuned to see how we did. Coach Rick

Cooperstown: The Dream Comes Alive
COOPERSTOWN, NY - The Bomber nation invaded Coopertown on Friday evening in a strategically planned, scattered attack. Coach Eric, Randy and Rick (along with Aaron, Will and Jack) were first to arrive (after a 6 hour drive from Hagerstown, MD) and set up operations.
The deployment went into the late hours and after the dust had settled and the parents had departed...the base camp was establshed. Now Eric, Randy, Bruce and Rick would be left with twelve high-strung 12 year old boys. The slogan "Living the Dream" had now taken on a cruel irony.
The first and most prominent activity that took over the camp was the pin trading. Even as we waited in a car line to check in, Aaron, Will and Jack feverously traded by going car to car with their commemorative Bomber pins. Our pin in comparison to other is classic, dignified and in many's opinion...one of the "must haves". The trading continued far into the night and intensified as each Bomber arrived on site.
With caffeine and candy-fueled vigor, the boys giggled, burped and chatted their way in the wee, wee hours. (With a capital "wee".)
The coaches and kids that survived until morning were ready to take on all that C'town has to offer.
We received our uniforms and gear (a lot of nice apparel) and the orientation started.
The events on Saturday are too numerous to touch on at this time, so stay tuned for the next blog to recap Saturday's exciting events.
'til then...Go Bombers!

Coach Eric's first Bomber post
Hello Bomber Nation (from Hagerstown, Maryland!!!!)
I have hijacked Rick's blog until we get all the settings figured out to allow me the access from my phone. Rick and Jack Brozek, Randy and Will Cosby, and Aaron and I all loaded into to van yesterday and blazed a 10-hour trail, arriving here in Hagerstown and pulling up to the Hagerstown Suns baseball stadium just before the first pitch of the game between the Suns (Washington Nationals) and the Greenville Drive (Boston Red Sox). The kids had a blast, winning hats, eating hot dogs, and each getting a ball. We all went to sleep happy - the adults knowing this would be their last good night's sleep for an entire week!!!! Today, we trek forward 6 hours to Cooperstown, NY and hope to have some time to explore before we do our early check-in with the whole team at 9:00pm tonight. That's all for now,
Coach E
